About

I have an abiding interest in making pottery,  constantly  learning something new from throwing simple shapes and forms for functional use.

I began potting in the 1970’s  reading books by Bernard Leach and seeing Mick Cassson and Micheal Cardew pottery in museums and galleries.

Banbury and later Epsom Art School provided me with the opportunity to practice making pots and experimenting with building kilns while  encountering visiting potters such as  Richard Phethean and Sidney Tustin.

I have been making pottery since then,  constantly being challenged and rewarded by the process.

I find using hand thrown ceramics enhances the quality of day to day living in a very real way.

I fire to stoneware temperature (1280c) using propane gas and a simple range of ash, tenmoku, celadon and tin glazes.

My pottery workshop is at home where I enjoy the use of space in a rural location.

I don't work to commission but If you are interested in any of my pottery please get in touch, not all of my pottery is represented on this website and I'll be happy to answer any enquiries.
Hand thrown ceramics are made individually, each piece may be slightly different. Variations in the firing and glaze behaviour combine to create an individual piece which you will discover with use.
Where possible, the piece that appears on the products page will be supplied, where an object is supplied from stock I will match as closely as possible, but as always, hand made means there will be features exclusive to individual pieces.
I am a member of the Craft Potters Association.
